What is cash based Physical Therapy?
Cash based Physical Therapy is also known as 'private pay', 'self pay', or 'out-of-network' Physical Therapy.

To be an in-network provider, a clinic agrees to the insurance companies rates, which are usually very low. To make up for this low rate, they have to increase patient volumes. This means double or triple booked therapists where you end up spending less than half your time there with an actual PT and more with an aide, tech, or other personnel.

GRIT Strength and Physical Therapy is an out-of-network clinic. This means we are not directly contracted with any insurance companies because we REFUSE to compromise our quality of care.

We have the ability to submit a superbill to your insurance company for reimbursement, although it depends on your actual insurance plan. All session are a full hour of one-on-one time with a Doctor of Physical Therapy and the same one every time. Wanting to use your insurance is totally understandable but we think you're going to find that like with most things. you get what you pay for.

More one-on-one time with your therapist and a more personalized experience
The administrative work and need to double/triple book appointments when contracted with insurance companies takes away from face to face time with your PT. At GRIT, you will spend the whole hour with your doctor.

Since there is no running back and forth between patients, the focus is 100% on YOU. We can spend more time individualizing your treatment plan and experience. YOU, rather than your insurance company, are the driver of your treatment plan and we are your expert advisors to keep you on track.
Concierge type service means getting more of your valuable time back
Because most of our patients only need to come once a week that means less time away from your family, your free time and your work.
It also means higher quality care, more flexibility and easier access to your doctor
At GRIT we are a small business that only works if we provide quality care. Because MD's and insurance companies do not refer patients, we have to rely solely on the patient experience we provide. We have the ability to schedule outside normal business hours if necessary. We can come to where you train and build a relationship with your trainer or coach so your transition back into full participation in your sport or program is seamless.
It may actually save you $$ in the long run
More one-on-one time with your doctor means we don't need to see you as often and you will get more value out of your money. Take this example:

-
In-network PT: $60 copay, 2x/week for 8 weeks = $960 out of pocket.
-
Spend on average 20 minutes with the actual PT = 5.33 hours of 1-on-1 time
-
You are paying $180/hr for that PT's time
-
At GRIT 1x/week for 8 weeks = $1187 for an 8 session package
-
Spend 60 minutes with your PT = 8 hours of 1-on-1 time
-
You are paying $148/hr for PT at GRIT

And this is if you have met your deductible and your insurance fully covers your PT visits. Many people end up paying fully out of pocket for an in-network provider - on average $250 per visit - thats like $4,000!
Many insurance companies reimburse for out-of-network PT
Depending on your out-of-network benefits, your insurance company may actually reimburse you for your visits! We can verify your benefits so you know up front what you can expect. You get a superbnill with all the necessary information to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
More time and freedom to address multiple issues and get to the cause of the problem
Insurance companies strongly dictate what services they will approve and pay for. Did you know that under insurance, PT's can only bill for treating one body part at a time? That means that you would need 2 separate evaluations and 2 separate treatment sessions if you have a hip and a back issue. That PT may be able to justify combining the two but that means more paperwork and even less face time. With out that constraint we can spend more time treating the whole you, all the necessary body parts no matter what is going on. There will be more time for a thorough assessment as well as education so you can better care for yourself and your injuries which means you are less likely to need me in the future.
Upfront and transparent costs
You will know exactly what you are paying for and there are no surprise bills month later. In-network PT clinics charge an average of $250 per session to insurance. If you haven't yet met your deductible, you are responsible for the full cost of the visit. At GRIT, treatments cost $150. By eliminating the administrative overhead of billing insurance companies and offsetting low reimbursement rates, we are able to reduce our fees.
Build a strong patient-provider relationship
At a traditional in-network PT clinic, you will likely spend time with more than one therapist as well as an untrained aide or tech. At GRIT, you will work with one doctor and the same one every time you visit. That means we can spend more time building a trusting relationship. You will feel how invested we are in your care and it will in turn help you to be more invested as well. You have your doctors direct contact information and know that we are "on call" 7 days per week during reasonable business hours.
We will empower you to treat yourself
A good therapist will not 'heal' you but teach you to heal yourself. We are athletes and we know the fear and uncertainty that can come with even the smallest injuries. We also understand how fiercely independent you are and that you'd rather take care of your injury yourself. Our goal is to help you do just that! That way the next time you're walking through the doors at GRIT, it is for some recovery work or a good solid strength training program instead of rehab.
To bring it all home, cash based Physical Therapy has the ability to provide you with the highest quality care where YOU hand pick your doctor, help design YOUR plan of care, build a trust filled relationship with a specialized health care provider and get back to training, living, and doing what you love much faster!
